About Kevin Hoyt by Kevin Hoyt:
I found my love for the outdoors at a very early age when my father introduced me to hunting and fishing. Through the years I have continued to follow my outdoor passions and became involved with Hunter Education. I was the owner of an archery pro shop for a couple of years , but for the most part I am a regular guy. I am not rich or famous, I am not an athlete or a rock star, I work regular jobs and get paid regular money. When I was 28 years old (1998) I read a National hunter participation study that showed a 12% drop in license sales within the fifteen year study. Within a year I read the prediction that our sport was doomed. The numbers read that at that current rate; hunting would vanish by mid-century.
By “2000" I had written and developed the basics for the future of hunting conservation program. With No experience, No equipment and No money I am on a crusade for my fellow hunters and for our nations wildlife. I have continually annoyed the “who’s who” of the outdoor industry, countless celebrities and top wildlife officials trying to gently push them to make changes and increase awareness. Conservation is a proven science and neither our country’s economy or our wildlife would survive the long term loss. I actively campaign for legislative actions to lower or drop the ridiculous age limits set by State governments instead of parents. I actively campaign for conservation and anything that will benefit our wildlife or their habitat. I now do television, talk radio, news shows and news papers, wildlife art and school conservation seminars. I also write for several outdoor magazines and teach hunter education. I believe we as hunters still have the power to save our wonderful sport and it is as simple as taking a kid hunting.
I truly believe that I can count on my fellow hunters to save this sport. I needed a way to get people to listen and found a way to do it while promoting the more tender side of hunting. I thought it was time for a real hunting show with real people. My program and my productions focus on the incredible bonding power of youth hunting, the reasons we hunt and how important hunting is for the wildlife and society. I am doing everything I can to educate everyone I come in contact with and I hope I can count on you to help me save the future of hunting.
