About the Program-
The Future of Hunting conservation program is an educational message designed to reach a mass target audience (YOU). Kevin Hoyt designed the program in an attempt to educate both hunters and non-hunters alike. Kevin believes that the key to saving our sport is awareness and education.
Non-hunter education is also a vital part of preserving our sport. Non- hunters need to know why we hunt and what we will be sacrificing if we loose the sport. The vast majority of non-hunters DO NOT KNOW the economical or ecological need for hunting in this country or the value hunting has for our wildlife. This is how we have taken care of our Nation’s wildlife for the last hundred years; this is how wildlife has made it this far in history. Hunting IS conservation and without hunters; conservation fails!
Another aspect of the program is Kevin’s active role in hunter education. Kevin is an International bow hunter education Instructor and a Vermont State firearms safety Instructor. He teaches the certification courses to countless new hunters every year and he has taught conservation to thousands of students in classrooms all across the country. While Kevin is traveling to various hunting locations during the taping portion of the year, he stops at as many schools as possible to teach the facts about hunters and what hunting does for our society. Hunting is a personal choice and you don’t have to do it, but someone has to if we want to keep conservation alive. Weather we participate or not, we owe it to our wildlife to understand this science and the benefits of it’s practice.
Hunters need to realize how real this threat is and start passing our traditions on. We still have the power of numbers to turn things around, we just have to do it. The vast majority of hunters DO NOT KNOW the predictions or how close we are to losing our sport forever! The participation decrease is the biggest problem that we as hunters have ever faced; this issue dictates all other issues in the outdoor world. Kevin Hoyt has what he calls the passion theory... “I know I’m not the only passionate hunter out there that cares about the future. If hunters Knew about this problem, they would fix it.”
Kevin uses the tremendous give-away and the media to attract attention. When you give away an average of almost one hunt every week, hunters seem to listen to what you are saying. We use television, video, radio, magazines and news papers to reach a larger market. Some of the larger papers/networks that have done coverage about Kevin Hoyt include the “New York Times”, the “International Tribune”, the “Florida Ledger”, CNBC, CNN and HBO. Kevin also video tapes all his youth hunts to broadcast and produce “ Kevin Hoyt’s Future of Hunting” television and video series. Some of Kevin’s radio credits include “The Jay Thomas Show”, “NRA News” and “Explore the South West”. A few of the magazines that Kevin has been published or featured in include “Outdoor Life”, “Buckmasters”, “Northeast Hunter”, “Buckmasters online” and “Pennsylvania Woods and Waters”.
This program was designed and is run almost exclusively by Kevin Hoyt. Everything from scheduling and coordination to speaking, filming, editing, directing and producing. Kevin even donates his valuable artwork in the name of conservation and it is all done on a voluntary basis. Leading by example, Kevin is changing things and hopes you will
join him in this important fight.
